New Search Engine Launched

Posted on 23. April, 2010.

You might think that the search engine market is already pretty well tied up by Google, but this doesn't seem to have put off Timmp.

On Thursday 1 April, a new search engine called Timmp officially launched and you can see it at www.timmp.com.

"Step aside Google" said the release, claiming to have "more web pages indexed than Google".

Where have we heard this before? Ah yes - Cuil.com, the last new search engine to make a direct challenge to Google.

And where is Cuil now? Well, it's still online, but recent search engine market share stats from Net Applications don't even list it, so Cuil's plans to take on Google don't seem to have come to fruition just yet.

Even established web companies such as Microsoft and Yahoo struggle to make an impact on Google's market share, so why on earth does Timmp think it could gain an edge?

"Timmp makes the online user experience simpler than ever before, the ability for research within split seconds is simple yet effective, and our partnerships with leading companies in our field has allowed us synergy to do this more effectively," a spokesman for Timmp said.

With its launch just recent news, only time will tell how the site ranks in stats. However, if it really does want to compete with Google, then Timmp could have a fight on its hands, but something tells us that Google may be the site left standing.
